Aflatoxins are carcinogenic, highly toxic metabolites of the mould fungi Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. Aflatoxin B1, generally present together with aflatoxin B2, G1 und G2, is occurring mainly in cereals, corn, cotton-seed and some nuts.
